Subject: Reference??
I am embarrassed to confess to having lost the source of a passage
which I need to quote. Can anyone recognise the author of the
following, which refers to _The Castle of Perseverance_ ?
"Sometimes where symmetry appears to be pointlessly broken,
the speech concerned begins a new page in the manuscript,
suggesting that lines may have been omitted as the scribe turned
a leaf. Examples include Gluttony's speech at 1960, which seems
to be inexplicably four lines short."
I have tried dozens of possible sources, and begin to fear that it
is from some long-since-returned book borrowed on Interlibrary
loan...
Anyone identifying the quotation for me will, of course, be duly
acknowledged.
A Happy Christmas to one and all!
Avril

Subject: MRDS Party
To all members of MRDS who will be at MLA: the Newsletter you just
received appears not to have an announcement of our annual party at MLA.
I will have a reception in my room at the Fairmont Hotel on Thursday, 28
December, 5:30-7:00. Since the party occurs before any of our sessions,
would each of you pass along the information to friends and colleagues.
We look forward to seeing you there.

I know the following is hardly a party topic, but I suspect there will be some
shop talk
amid the festivities, so I venture to make this request.
Would you please mention to those assembled that I am seeking bibliographical
citations
of short plays for four or fewer actors to publish in a forthcoming theatrical
index and
strongly desire to include medieval examples.
I can be reached at heniford@ix.netcom.com at the convenience of anyone who
might care
to respond.
Happy holidays.
Lewis
